WHAT ARE PLANNED OUTAGES?

Planned outages are scheduled interruptions in power supply, carefully organized by our team to perform:

    • Necessary Maintenance Work

    • Upgrades to Serve You Better

    • Repairs on the Electrical Grid

WHAT ARE UNPLANNED OUTAGES?

On the other hand, there are the unexpected interruptions in electricity supply. These outages happen suddenly and are not scheduled in advance. Some of the causes of unplanned power outages are:

      • Motor Vehicle Accidents

      • Severe Weather Conditions

      • Kite Tails

      • Electricity Theft

How to prepare for a planned outage.

JPS makes every effort to minimise disruption to communities when doing maintenance work. However there are times when a power outage is unavoidable. This is to ensure work can be completed safely by our people. When an outage does occur, you will be informed at least 2 days before, follow these tips to stay prepared.

    • Charge your phone and all important devices.
    • Use surge protectors for power-sensitive devices like TVs and computers, and unplug them before an outage to prevent any possible damage.
    • Minimize opening your fridge/freezer during an outage to keep food cold longer—every time you open it, cold air escapes faster!
    • For long outages, use a portable generator with enough fuel and follow safety guidelines for operation.
