We are pleased to invite qualifying schools to apply for an exam fee grant for students sitting the CSEC Industrial Technology (Electrical and Electrical Technology) Examination for the academic year 2024 - 2025.

The JPS Foundation is committed to enhancing the innovative capacity of our youth through STEM Education as we seek to improve lives and strengthen our communities. We also continue to contribute to our national objective of making a skills-based course mandatory for all high school students.

This initiative will allow qualifying high school students the opportunity to sit at least one skills-based subject at the CSEC level at no cost to them. Additionally, it will facilitate the increase in the number of students leaving the high school system with a certification in a practical skills-based subject, in each academic year.

Eligibility

  • 1. Schools must have an active JPS Foundation Energy Club. 
  •  2. Schools must have an average pass rate of 60% or more over the past two academic years in the subject area  
  • 3. Schools must have an overall CSEC exam average sit rate of 75% or higher over the past two academic years  
  • 4. New entry schools (schools sitting the specified exam for the first or second time) must have an overall CSEC exam average sit rate of 75% over the period 
  • 5. Only public/government aided high schools as well as private high schools in which the government has placed students will be considered.
  • 6.  Students must have an average of 60% or higher in the subject area.
  • 7. Students must be sitting the exam with the qualifying school as a full-time student.

Application and Confirmation Procedures

    NB. Application form must be completed by an approved representative of the school only. The application will be rejected otherwise. 

  • 2.  Schools will be sent a confirmation email specifying eligibility and detailing timelines.  
  • 3. If qualified, schools will be required to write a letter to the Foundation listing the qualified students’ names and average in the subject area.  
  • 4.  Schools will receive confirmation on students accepted and amount being paid.
  • 5.  The JPS Foundation will make payments directly to the Overseas Examination Commission. 

NB. Schools should not submit names of students who have not met the 60% average requirement in the subject area. If this is done, the entire application will be rejected. Students falling below the average by no more than 2% may be considered based on circumstances
